WELCOME TO MY HOME PAGE
The purpose of my website is to give an idea,in my own small way,of what 2 years as an RAF national serviceman was like(an impossible task!).I hope it is of interest to anybody, whether they served or not.Maybe some of my former mates will recognise themselves from the photographs. If so,please contact me,by e-mail,or by my Guest Book.

RAF Cardington Feb.1955
The smile soon started to disappear, when, after being posted to a certain place on the Wirral Penninsular(West Kirby) and my introduction to squarebashing, life in the RAF for the next 2 years was becoming a reality. Not to mention the winter weather and the icy blasts sweeping across the parade ground from the Dee and the River Mersey. |

RAF Nicosia 1956
This was taken 18 months after Cardington photo. Well used to RAF life with good mates, and a job(at Maritime HQ Nicosia) which I enjoyed. The weather, as you can see, was mostly hot though the nights were cold. My Squadron Leader(Bennett) for whom I had a great respect, tried to persuade me to sign on for an extra year. On reflection it might have been a good idea but, like all good National Servicemen, I just wanted to do my service and out. However it is good to look back and relive a time in my life shared with mates which produced a camaraderie which was unique, something I have never forgotten.
